Orvis UK Announce Dates for 2024 Saltwater Fly Fishing Events with a Focus on Supporting the Next Generation of Anglers

We are delighted to announce that the Orvis Saltwater Fly Fishing Festival 2024 will be taking place from Friday 30th – Sunday 1st September in Chichester Harbour and Hayling Island. The festival, based from the Langstone Quays Hotel, invites likeminded anglers to forge new friendships, develop new skills, and learn more about Saltwater Fly Fishing in the UK, whilst competing for exclusive Orvis prizes.

Alongside the classic ‘Festival’ and ‘Competitor’ tickets, in 2024, anglers under the age of 18 are encouraged to join the competition for one day on Friday 31st August, competing for the Longest Catch prize, with runners-up prizes to follow covering a range of categories. Youth anglers must be able to fish independently, under the supervision of an adult at all times, in order to enter. All youth anglers will be assigned a fishing mark to enjoy for the day, which is separate from the main event.

Focusing on supporting new anglers, the Beginners Saltwater Weekend will take place on Saturday 8th, and Sunday 9th June from the Langstone Quays Resort on Hayling Island. The weekend gives people an accessible opportunity to make fly fishing their passion, particularly those looking to learn and wanting to explore the outdoors in new and exciting ways.

The event is held over two days and includes talks on fly fishing kit, saltwater species, where to fish, tactics, as well as casting clinics. Followed by a series of guided beach workshops, everyone will have the opportunity to try and catch a fish and test out their new skills.

Both events are expertly guided and looked after by a team of professional Orvis saltwater fly fishing guides – including Michael Rescorle, Joe Walker, Philip Spratt, Rodney Wevill, and a team of highly qualified casting instructors.

Speaking about the festivals, Aaron Rawling, Managing Director of Orvis UK said, “Both of the Orvis Saltwater events celebrate the incredible saltwater fly fishing we have on offer in the UK, which is so accessible to amateur and professional anglers alike. We are committed to supporting the angler's journey by offering the Beginners event, to ensure they have the stepping stone they need to take part in our flagship September festival. We are delighted to open this up to anglers under 18 for the first time. As part of Orvis’ mission to make fly fishing an accessible joy for all, we want to encourage and foster the next generation of saltwater fly fishing anglers.”
